forever isn't a long time

it's nothing that needs
conjuring up in my mind's eye.
sunburst rushes of
unimaginable longing.
cruising your pulse
like a sail taken by the gully breezes.
what you watch is what my eyes see.
this time around
forever isn't long enough.
summer moons that drench me
in your sweat,
gardens, never meant to be tidy
or overly tended to.
rain water collects in your barrel
and i sip it as you read to me.
forever can't be enough
tomorrow gets to me too soon
and Time grabs us by the hair.
you say what you think
and you will forever.
a matter of miles isn't enough,
forever isn't that long.

impatiently...

impatiently for three nights I sat
out in the purple-pink dusk.
....lighting one up, I lean against the post.
the smoke wafts into warm blue dusk,
but i sift in dream mode
to the other side of the peninsula.
honey, what do you wear there?
the rays of heat make you sweat i know.
but, my cool hand touches your cheek
and pulls away some of the tension.
I wonder and wait here
for some sign in my mirror.
just "Send Me a Smile"
and I'll breathe.
this blue glove of uneasiness grips me.
sleep blinks once and is gone.
the lantern so high.
just waiting.

     hhmmm, having been put in the position of "trying" to be clever with the content of this bio, i find myself at a loss. i'm better at the impromptu i believe. anyway, i write "poetry" which my family and friends patronizingly say is fine. however, the professor at our local college, (Bucks County, Pa. Poet Laureate for several years) seemed to have quite a different and less complimentary opinion. (smile).. i write for therapy which is more than any person should expect. it seems to be safer than medication and a lot less expensive.
     i'm not an artist, a photographer, a musician, or a math teacher. i do APPRECIATE art, film, music and i like math. (smile).. i travel the highway and i have 13 earrings in my left ear. that's all i can think of that's "clever".
